Prof. Dr. Christian Trautwein is a full professor of the RWTH-University of Aachen. He is the Head and Director of the Department of Gastroenterology and Metabolism at the University Hospital. Between 1983 and 1987 he studied Medicine at the Johannes-Gutenberg Universität of Mainz and the Eberhard-Karl Universität of Tübingen. After his studies until 1991 he worked as assistant at the I. Department of Medicine at the University of Mainz. From 1991 and 1992 he worked as a post-doc in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of California, San Diego. He returned to Germany to the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endocrinology at the Medizinische Hochschule Hannover where he worked until 2005. Here he established his own group on Molecular Hepatology and became Assistant Professor in 1996 and Associate Professor in 2000, before he went to Aachen in 2005.
