Michael Muller and Lydia Afman win Publication Award 2006
On 5 June, TI Food and Nutrition
presented the annual patent and publication prizes. During the
festive presentation Michael Muller and Lydia Afman were awarded
a publication prize for Nutrigenomics: From molecular nutrition
to prevention of disease, published in the Journal of the
American Dietetic Association.
The criteria for the winning publications are originality of the
topic and the research method, long-term applicability, and
clarity of presentation and writing. According to the jury
members, their task had been a difficult one, as the
publications were all excellent. The authors of each winning
publication and patent received a framed certificate and a cash
prize.
Other winners were:
Eric Neyraud, Thierry Sayd, Martine Morzel and Eric
Dransfield for Proteomic analysis of human whole and parotid
salivas following stimulation by different tastes, published in
the Journal of Proteome Research,
Bas Teusink, Anne Wiersma, Douwe Molenaar, Christof Francke,
Willem de Vos, Roland Siezen and Eddy Smid for Analysis of
growth of Lactobacillus plantarum WCFS1 on a complex medium
using a genome-scale metabolic model, published in the Journal
of Biological Chemistry.
The winners of the patent prize were:
Freddy Troost, Michiel Kleerebezem, Robert-Jan Brummer and
Willem de Vos for Modulation of human gene expression by ingested
microorganisms.
